PM Tarique Rahman opens a diplomatically dense five-day stretch in New York this week, headlined by his maiden UN General Assembly address, a Trump-hosted world leaders' reception, and advocacy on the Rohingya crisis and climate change, alongside a string of high-profile bilateral talks with leaders from Turkey, Canada, Pakistan, Bhutan, Haiti, Croatia, Thailand, Kuwait and possibly the Maldives.

Despite the packed agenda, the Prime Minister is visiting New York with a notably lean 35-member official delegation, including 15 ministers, state ministers, advisers and special assistants, alongside essential security, media and personal staff, travelling on regular commercial flights rather than a special charter.

PM Tarique Rahman is scheduled to attend the inaugural session of the 81st UN General Assembly's high-level week on September 22, alongside a welcome breakfast reception hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres for heads of delegation the same day. A significant bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is possible on September 22, alongside talks with António Costa, President of the European Council.

Also on September 22, PM Tarique Rahman may receive a call from Julie Bishop, UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Myanmar, and a separate, notable call from Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
